Radio frequency (RF) sensing and imaging
Microwave sensing and imaging utilises electromagnetic waves with frequencies in the range 1GHz to 30GHz, corresponding to wavelengths in free-space between 300mm and 10mm.
These frequencies cover a wide range of applications from telecommunications to radar.
Some examples of the team’s microwave engineering capability include:
- The measurement of complex permittivity of materials either in waveguide or using a coaxial probe
- Synthetic aperture radar imaging of tree interiors
- Design and measurement of frequency selective surfaces (FSS)
